An Arch consists of two weaknesses, which, leaning on each other, become a strength

Shelby grew up in the Portland metro area and chose to stay close to home as she explored higher education; attending nearby Oregon State University. When looking closely at what she wanted from her career, there was little doubt that she wanted to pursue education and make a difference in shaping young lives. Once teaching became her goal, Shelby received her Master's in Teaching from George Fox University.
Shortly after graduating, she traveled to Quito Ecuador where she volunteered in a school for working boys and their families and helped foster education in the school and homes.
Shelby has joined Baker Web Academy after being a classroom teacher for 20 years, where she taught various grade levels from first grade to fifth grade. Shelby took the opportunity to specialize as well, as she became a math intervention specialist for several years.
Shelby lives in the Portland metro area with her husband (high school sweetheart), their three your children, and the family dog Bella. In her spare time she enjoys running and stand up paddle boarding, but you can usually find her at a nearby field (or court) cheering her kids on at their many sporting events.
Shelby is exited to take on a new challenge and continue to evolve online teaching and learning with Baker. But most importantly, she is looking forward to making personal connections with students and their families.
